View data reduction details

The data reduction details view provides details about DRR (enabled and reducing), unreducible data, and storage group data reduction.

About this task

See Understanding resource usage for an overview of resource usage.

Steps

  1. Select a storage system that is running PowerMaxOS 10 (6079).
The system health dashboard is displayed by default.
  2. Hover over Capacity to view the capacity summary for the storage system.
  3. Click Capacity and select the system or an SRP instance.
  4. Click the Data Reduction section to view the data reduction details page.

The data reduction details page displays the following:

    • Data Reduction Ratio chart - The chart displays the amount of effective used capacity and how that translates to capacity written to the system in terms of usable capacity. Data is broken down by Enabled data (Reduced, Unreducible, Unevaluated) and Disabled data (Unreduced). Hover over the chart to see a tooltip displaying the Data Reduction Ratio on Enabled value. Selecting a different date on one of the timeline charts causes the values in the chart (including the Data Reduction Ratio on Enabled value) to be updated to the values corresponding to that date.
    • DRR- Enabled and Reducing chart - The chart graphs (in blue) the DRR on Enabled and Reducing. The dotted black-colored line displays the Sized DRR for SRP emulation. Click one of the three buttons in the upper right (1 month, 3 months, 6 months) to change the X-axis of the DRR chart to the selected time scale. Dragging the vertical bar left and right updates the Data Reduction Ratio chart, moves the vertical bar on the unreducible data chart and updates the storage group data reduction view to display storage group values for the highlighted date.
    • DRR- Unreducible Data chart - The chart graphs (in blue) the unreducible data. Click one of the three buttons in the upper right (1 month, 3 months, 6 months) to change the X-axis of the unreducible chart to the selected time scale. Dragging the vertical bar left and right updates the Data Reduction Ratio chart, moves the vertical bar on the enabled and reducing data chart and updates the storage group data reduction view to display storage group values for the highlighted date.
    • Storage Group Data Reduction view - The view has the following properties:
      • User Created Object—The names of the storage resource objects. This column is displayed only on systems with vVol capacity. Clicking a storage resource name links to the storage resource list view, which is filtered for that storage resource.
      • Storage Group—The storage group Identifier. Click the storage group identifier to view the storage group details (see View storage group details).
      • Provisioned (GB)—The amount of capacity provisioned (TDEVS created)
      • Total Effective Used (GB)—The total amount of effective capacity used
      • Total Physical Used (GB)—The total amount of physical capacity used
      • Total Data Reduction Ratio—The total data reduction ratio
      • Total Unreducible Data (GB)—The total amount of unreducible data
      • Data Reduction—Indication if data reduction is enabled or disabled
      • Data Reduction Ratio—Data reduction ratio
      • Snap DRR—Snapshot Data Reduction Ratio (DRR)
      • Effective Used (GB)—The amount of effective capacity used (not displayed by default)
      • Physical Used (GB)—The amount of physical capacity used (not displayed by default)
      • User Data (GB)—The amount of user data (not displayed by default)
      • Unreducible Data (GB)—The amount of unreducible data (not displayed by default)
      • Snap Effective Used (GB)—The amount of effective capacity used by snapshots (not displayed by default)
      • Snap Physical Used (GB)—The amount of physical capacity used by snapshots
      • Snap Unreducible Capacity (GB)—Snapshot unreducible capacity (not displayed by default)
